Planning a family getaway can feel overwhelming. All-inclusive resorts make the process easier by bundling meals, activities, and entertainment into one simple package.

Still, not every all-inclusive resort is built with families in mind. Some are designed for couples and quiet relaxation. Others are built to keep kids of every age busy with clubs, games, and nonstop activity.

From quiet beaches to lively resorts packed with waterparks and hands on fun, there is a wide range to choose from. The key is finding the resort that fits your family’s travel style, whether that means a peaceful escape, an activity filled trip, or something in between.

A Few Things to Consider

As you weigh your options, here are the details worth thinking through first.

  • Entertainment and activities

  • Room options and comfort

  • Pool availability and features

  • Beach access and quality

  • Dining options and variety

For parents, one of the biggest questions is what the kids will do while on vacation. You want them entertained and engaged, while still making room for family moments together. And a little time to yourselves is always welcome when you know the kids are safe and having fun.

Built for Every Age

Family focused resorts cater to a wide range of ages and interests. Many offer structured programs for children, from toddlers to teens, along with optional babysitting services. Staff leading these programs are typically certified in safety and childcare, and we can confirm the exact qualifications for any resort you are considering.

Family resorts often include:

  • Age specific kids clubs and programs
  • Teen lounges and gathering spaces
  • Water features like slides, lazy rivers, and surf simulators
  • Beachside evenings, including bonfires
  • Rock climbing walls and roller skating
  • Group activities such as cooking classes and games
  • Bowling alleys and playgrounds
  • Movies under the stars
  • Pack n play availability in the room

Please note that certain activities and amenities may carry an additional fee.

There is rarely a shortage of things to do. Many resorts offer kayaking, snorkeling, volleyball, table tennis, windsurfing, sailing, paddleboarding, basketball, and tennis. For kids, programs often include water games, air hockey, ping pong, and mini golf.

Resorts typically group children by age, such as:

  • Little Explorers: 4 to 7
  • Junior Adventurers: 8 to 12
  • Teen Crew: 13 to 17

Finding the Right Fit for Your Family

Finding the right resort takes a bit of planning, especially with little ones or a larger group. Families of five or more will want resorts with roomy accommodations or guaranteed connecting rooms to keep everyone close. Not every resort offers this, so it is worth confirming ahead of time.

For the youngest travelers, options are more limited, though some resorts do welcome guests under four. Programs for older children vary widely too, from action packed adventures to creative, hands on activities.

Resorts Worth Knowing

A few resorts stand out for family travel.

Hard Rock Riviera Maya offers Camp Woodward, a 29,000 square foot playground for kids ages 4 to 17 with skateboarding, BMX, trampolines, and foam pits. It is available at an additional cost, separate from the all-inclusive package.

Others lean into themed experiences, like Beaches Resorts by Sandals with Sesame Street adventures, or the Nickelodeon Resorts in Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, where SpongeBob SquarePants comes to life. The Nickelodeon Resort even features The Pineapple villa, inspired by SpongeBob’s home.

Beaches Resorts by Sandals is also leading the way with the first Autism Friendly Kids Camps, creating a supportive environment for every child.

No matter your family’s size or age, we can help find the resort that fits. Let’s design a trip full of fun, memories, and a little extra magic for everyone.
